    The principle of piezoelectric quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) and surface acoustic wave (SAW) piezoelectric sensor is briefly introduced. The recent applications of piezoelectric sensors in enviromental monitoring are reviewed including toxic gas assay, liquid contaminant assay with QCM chemical sensor, SAW chemical sensor analysis, gas materials analysis, liquid phase analysis with piezoelectric biosensor, piezoelectric sensor array and non-mass response etc. The potential use in future is also given.
