    The modules |A| of complex transfer functions for the geomagnetic field with the periods of T=9~200 minutes from January 1983 to October 1996 at Yingchuan seismic station are calculated and analyzed as well as the overall error σz and Parkinson or Wiess vector. The variation of those for 8 moderate and strong earthquakes 400 km far from Yingchuan station are studied.

    According to these diatom-pH transfer functions,the fossil diatom in the sediment were analysed to reconstruct the pH value in Llyn Hir(lake) from 1956 to 1995.It showed that the improvement of pH in 1985 was the result of liming by the history record and there was an obvious effect in the following six years but the effect weakened gradually and vanished.
