     Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) was used for the studies of RE series of powdered AN explosive and 2~# powdered ANT explosive on a DuPont 1090B calorimeter. The experimental data were fitted with a dynamic model by means of a microcomputer, and the dynamic parameters of non-isothermal reactions during the thermal decomposition of the samples were obtained. Based on these results both the explosives were evaluated in terms of the thermal stability, internal compatibility and energy release characteristies.

The anticaking effect of surfactants, inorganic salts and their compounds on powdered ammonium nitrate (AN) has been expounded, and the opti mistic proportion of AN's anticaking agents and the adding technique have been put forward in this paper.The additives are important to prevent the powdered AN explosive from moisture-absorption and caking.
