A cationic flocculant was prepared mainly by the copolymerization of acryamide (AM) with dimethylamino ethyl methacrylate (DM). Various factors such as initiator, monomer-concentraion and reaction temperature affecting on the molecular weight of the cationic flocculant are studied. The cationic flocculant prepared is used to treat the middle-step water of the paper mill.The results show that the transmittancy of the treated water can be over 90%.
