AIM:To study the massage to pelvic organs altering the status of penile blood flow and the different effects on penile blood flow by massaging different organs of pelvic kidney. METHDS:The peak systolic velocity(PSV), end diastolic velocity(EDV) and resistant index(RI) of right lateral cavernosal arteries were evaluated and obtained in 10 healthy volunteers with color doppler ultrasonography respectively at three distinct phases:sedentary condition,rectal massage and prostate massage. AIM:To study the massage to pelvic organs altering the status of penile blood flow and the different effects on penile blood flow by massaging different organs of pelvic kidney. METHDS:The peak systolic velocity(PSV), end diastolic velocity(EDV) and resistant index(RI) of right lateral cavernosal arteries were evaluated and obtained in 10 healthy volunteers with color doppler ultrasonography respectively at three distinct phases:sedentary condition,rectal massage and prostate massage. RESULTS:The PSV,EDV and RI of right cavernosal arteries in 10 health subjects were(8.86±3.19)cm/s,(1.13±0.49)cm/s and 0.87±0.06 scanned before massaging rectal walls and prostate glands,(9.21±3.65) cm/s,(1.69±0.64)cm/s and 0.78±0.14 at the phase of massaging rectal walls and(18.96±6.47)cm/s,(2.60±1.22)cm/s and 0.86±0.05 at the phase of massaging prostate.The increase of EDV during massaging to rectal walls showed statistical significance(t=2.32,P=0.046),whereas, rectal massage did not alter PSV significantly(t =0.29, P=0.78).Both PSV and EDV increased markedly at massage to prostate phase and showed statistical significance(t=3.89 and 3.92,Both P=0.004).Seven out of 10 subjects presented penile tumescence during prostate massages but no full penile erection was observed. CONCLUSION:The obviously increase of EDV of cavernosal arteries was scanned during massages on rectal walls.The massages to prostates can obviously cause the increase of both PSV and EDV.It was found that the effects on penile blood flow varied with the stimulation to distinct pelvic organs.It is postulated that a certain nerve reflex may be involved in the phenomena observed in the present study.
