Jiguang No 3 is a new hematoporphyrin derivative prepared from protopor-phyrin. Tissue distribution studies in Lewis lung carcinoma bearing mice revealed that Jiguang No 3 was more or less evenly distributed in various tissues. The tissue concentration of these compounds in liver and kidney was higher than that in other tissues and the concentration of these compounds in tumonr tissue was 3.5 times higher than that in skin and 10-13 times higher than that in muscle 48-72 hrs after iv injection. Jiguang No 3 is a new hematoporphyrin derivative prepared from protopor-phyrin. Tissue distribution studies in Lewis lung carcinoma bearing mice revealed that Jiguang No 3 was more or less evenly distributed in various tissues. Rats bearing Walker carcinoma 256 were injected with Jiguang No 3 at a dosage of 10mg/kg and exposed to light at 630nm from an argon pumped dye laser with an output of 300mw/cm2. In vivo experiment demonstrated that Jiguang No 3 is effective in treating rats bearing Walker carcinoma 256.
