Finally, it is suggested that the sediment density can be 2.74 g/cm 3 for upper reach, 2.73 g/cm 3 for middle reach and 2.71 g/cm 3 for lower Yellow River.
The results showed that the average concentration of PAHs in sediments was 293.8 ng·g-1. The concentrations had a wide variation range, generally taking on a trend from high in the middle reach to low in the lower reach.
This study was undertaken to investigate the loadi ng features, temporal-spatial distribution and dynamical changes of plant nutrient element s N and P in arid inland water bodies including ground water, spring water, rese rvoir and river in the midstream area of the Heihe river basin through river section monitoring and sample analyses at selected sites over the past 11 years.
The ecological environment in the lower Heihe River has been deteriorating due to large water consumption in the upper and middle reaches, and less available water downstream.
New data on the composition of surface assemblages of plant macroremains from soil and swamp samples have been obtained in the study of geomorphologically different localities in the middle reaches of the Nizhnyaya Tunguska River.

The results of dendroclimatic analysis provide evidence for the prevailing influence of air temperature in July (compared to that in June) on the radial growth of larch in the middle reaches of the Bol'shoi Avam.
It is shown that the seasonal variations, typical of the river upper and middle reaches and determining the high level of anthropogenic impact of the fuel and energy complex facilities onto the river, even out in the lower reaches of the river.

The data are reviewed on its size-weight composition, individual fecundity, and feeding in the floodplain lake Kurazhechnoye (the middle reaches of the Kamchatka River).
The Jianghan plain is one of the important bases of China's agricultural productivity, located in central and southern Hubei province in the middle reach of Yangtze River.
Due to high water infiltration by immense volumes of sediment deposits in the middle reach, the sediment from the tributaries was deposited as in-channel fans.
After removal of the catheter (day 5) the first midstream urine was collected for culture, and from that moment on all patients were treated with a nitrofurantoin derivative for two weeks.
A marked difference was seen between the two different hospital locations: a 15% incidence in the hospital where midstream urine was used for culture (Sittard), versus 5% in the hospital where catheter urine was used (Gelcen).
Among 124 recipients of a renal allotransplant (22 men, 52 women), 60 patients (27 men, 33 women) showed more than 106 colony-forming units/ml midstream urine on one or several occasions.
In this paper the mathematical modelling of the distribution of average velocity along the vertical in alluvial rivers has been studied According to the data measured from natural rivers,a formula for computing the roughness distribution across the river channel is obtained. Based on the basic idea of the stream network method,a finite difference method is used for solving the equations of motion and a two-dimensional mathematical model is established. This model not only can avoid the arbitrariness in draw...
The Dongting Lake is a typical passing reservoir which adjusts both the inflow from and outflow to the mid-reach of the Changjiang (Yangtze) River. Due to the huge amount/of sediment load carried by the Changjiang River and emptying into the Lake, as well as to reclamation work carried out over past one hundred years, the lake surface area has reduced rapidly from 5,000 to 2,740 km2, thus deteriorating to a great extent the flood absorption and discharge capacity of the lake basin. Based on the data derived...
According to analysis and statistics of nodes of braided channels at the Lower Yangtze River, it is considered that the nodes can be divided into two categories: that controling a river stretch and that controling a local bank or a branch channel. Emphasis is placed upon the role of node playing in the bed evolution of the braided channel, i.e. the effects of width-depth ratio, de length and angle of bend between two nodes of a river stretch, and the control action on the river regime. Finally the paper exp...
