    In this paper a time-domain simulation method for computing the motion of a rigid body floating on water free surface is presented. The total velocity potential generated by the motion of the body is divided into two parts. One is the impulsive velocity potential which is obtained by Hess-Smith method. The other is free surface potential. By the means of the representation of the free-surface potential suggested in this paper and the relation between the impulsive velocity potential and the free surface potential, the Fourier transform motion is used to obtain the initial value of free surface potential. And then the boundary condition on body surface is used to calculate free surface potential at each time-step. As an example the added mass and its memory function on a hemisphere are computed. The variation of free-surface shape at each time-step after impulsive motion are computed. At the end of this paper, the Cummins' equation of motion in time-domain is used to solve the motion in vertical direction of a hemisphere floating freely on free surface.

    This paper investigates the vibration problem of a structure which consists of given viscoelastic material components. The motion equation of the structure is in both time domain and Laplace domain. The concept of "corresponding elastic structure" of the viscoelastic structure is introduced to study the modal properties of the viscoelastic structure. It is verifled that the displacement of the viscoelastic structure can be determined by a real modal set which belongs to the very "corresponding elastic structtire",...

    This paper investigates the vibration problem of a structure which consists of given viscoelastic material components. The motion equation of the structure is in both time domain and Laplace domain. The concept of "corresponding elastic structure" of the viscoelastic structure is introduced to study the modal properties of the viscoelastic structure. It is verifled that the displacement of the viscoelastic structure can be determined by a real modal set which belongs to the very "corresponding elastic structtire", and one eigenvector corresponds to a pair of conjugate complex eigenvalues and several real ones. With the results of modal analysis the dynamic response and transfer function matrix are obtained in the real modal vector space.
