The asymptotic stability and stabilization problem is one of the fundamental problems in the theory of singular large-scale system. The study of them is much more complicated than that of state-space systems because the singular large-scale system requires considering not only stability, but also regularity and causality (for discrete singular systems) or impulse immunity (for continuous singular systems) .

By the method of asympototic expansion, a new kind of "closed form"related to the ordinarily "nowhere converging" power series is established in the paper. This new form is proved to be the generalization of Z transform and named as "generalized Z transform".By this new approach, the applicable range of Z transform is greatly extended.

The contents of nitrates and nitrites,or the precursors of potentially carcinogenic nitrosomines,were determined in the environm- ental samples of water and food stuffs collected from the high and low gastric cancer mortality areas in the rural villages of Dalian District, China.Similar determinations were also performed for the 167 gastric juice samples freshly taken during a local survey for gastric cancers.It was disclosed that significant difference in nitrates and nitrites contents was noticed only between the 60 cabbage samples (fresh and salted)from the two respective areas.The gastric juice pH values were found to be correlated with in vivo nitrates and nitrites contents,which were signif- icantly higher in the cases with pH value less than 3 as compared with those greater than 3.The result of this study implies that the locally produced cabbage might be the main source of nitrates and nitrites in the high gastric cancer mortality area,and that further investigation to illuminate the possible etiological role of nitrates and nitrites in the gastric cancer occurrence will be justifiable.
