Objective This study investigated the mechanism of Qianjinba'S Anti-inflammation,It also studied whether there were interactions between qianjinba,fenbide and time period.Methods A rat model of peripheral nerve injury was made by crushing the right sciatic nerve with a specific forceps,the crushed group was randomly divided into the model group,qianjinba group,fenbide group,and combination group(fenbide+Qianjinba).The sham-operated group only exposed the right sciatic nerve without being crushed.Drug and the vehicle alone was perfusated from day 2 to day 3,day 7 and day 14,respectively.Radioimmunoassay was used to determine the level of substance P in the crushed sciatic nerve respectively.Results Level of substance P in the plasma were in accordance with those in the crushed sciatic nerve:(a)the level of substance P in the model group was significantly higher than that of sham-operated group(P<0.05);(b)the level of substance P in the treatment groups was significantly lower than that of the model group(P<0.05);(c)the difference between the treatment groups was no significant(P>0.05);(d)level of substance P with qianjinba was significantly lower than that without qianjinba(P<0.05);(e)level of substance P with fenbide was significantly lower than that without fenbide(P<0.05);(f)level of substance P on day 7 was significantly higher than that of day 3 and day 14 in the model group(P<0.05);the difference of level of substance P between day 3 and day 14 was no significant(P>0.05);(g)there was interactions between qianjinba and fenbide(P<0.05).Conclusion(a)Qianjianba can accelerate the recovery of the sciatic nerve by anti-inflammation,meanwhile one possible mechanism for its anti-inflammation is that qianjinba can reduce the level of substance P.(b)There is no significant difference between qianjinba and fenbide in reducing the level of substance P.There is synergistic action between qianjinba and fenbide.
