The ground magnetic data of three low-latitude magnetic observatories in China (Qiong-zhong, Guangzhou, Quanzhou) have been used to study the variation of the equatorial electrojet during the main phase and at the beginning of the recovery phase of strong magnetic stroms. The analysis of variation of the Z-compoment demonstrates that corresponding to the developing of the ring current there is a negative disturbance of AZ (i.e. an additional eastward electrojet), while during the recovering of Dst, there is a positive disturbance (westward electrojet). The tendency is shown at all local times, but the amplitude of the variation may be modulated by the local time. The trend becomes insignificant at the later stage of the storm, or if the storm is not a solitary one but follows another storm closely.The results are tested by the superposed epoch analysis, the correlation analysis, the x2 -analysis and the analysis of variance. The influnce of the polar electrojet and the latitudinal variation of the polar cusp region is also discussed.The research indicates that in the study of equatorial electrojet on disturbed days, it is important to distinguish the features at different storm stages, and to make a distinction between the effects of dynamic coupling and those of electrodynamic coupling. For further study one needs to deduce the global current system by using the data from a world-wide net of ground magnetic stations.

本文利用我国琼中、广州、泉州三站1982—1983年地磁Z分量资料,对磁暴主相发展及恢复相初期的赤道电急流变化进行了研究。形态分析、周期叠加和相关分析均表明,不论在何地方时,对应环电流的发展有△Z的负扰(附加东向电急流);而D_(st)开始回升则有△Z的正扰(附加西向电急流)。该变化之大小可能受地方时的调制。方差分析、x~2-分析等统计检验也认证了上述变化。文中还对△Z正、负扰与极区电急流及极尖区位置的高、低纬向移动进行了讨论。本文结果表明,分析扰日赤道电急流变化应区分磁暴的不同阶段,即区分电动耦合和动力耦合效应。今后应采用大范围台站网资料,进一步得出有关电流系的图象。

Senior-Blanc model for magnetosphere-ionosphere coupling is expanded for the condition involving the variation of the boundary of the polar cap and of the particle precipitation. Senior-Blanc model for magnetosphere-ionosphere coupling is expanded for the condition involving the variation of the boundary of the polar cap and of the particle precipitation. A calculation method is developed to study the potential distribution at middle and low latitudes and the equatorial electrojet when the boundaries or the driving potential change abruptly. The results indicate significant effect of the magnetosphere-ionosphere coupling on the equatorial electrojet. It shows that from early morning to midnight, an additional eastward electeojet occurs following the abrupt increase of the driving potential and equatorward expansion of the boundaries concerned. On the other hand, a strong westward equatorial electrojet is developed corresponding to the sudden decrease of the driving source. A couple of phenomena observed can be explained by the results of the model calculation. And the discrepancy between the observations of different experiments can be attributed partly to the change of the electrojet pattern at the different stages of the process.

本文用数值计算方法对极盖区边界变化、其上驱动电势突然增减以及粒子沉降边界随时间变化等情况下,中低纬电离层电位分布及赤道电急流变化进行了研究。结果表明,赤道电急流明显地受到磁层-电离层电动耦合的影响。在白天到午夜的大部分时间内,当驱动势增强和扰动源向低纬扩展时,产生扰时附加东向赤道电急流;反之,有较强的磁层源西向电急流。计算结果解释了观测的主要现象,也表明观测结果的复杂性可能与过程不同阶段上电急流位相变化有关。
