Nudeolar extrusion of the paranchymal cells of the anterior pituitarty of 35 rabbits from 15-days embryo to 2-years-old and 8 human from new-born to 8-years-old was. studied. The materials were first fixed in different fixatives, embedded in paraffin, sectioned serially into 4fi thickness and stained with dyes of safranin and orange G, Heidenhain's iron haematoxylin combined with Mallory's connective tissue stain, buffered Magn-Lillie eosin methyl blue, Feulgen's reaction and methyl green-pyronin. Nucleolar extrusion was observed in all of these materials. Cells of nine rabbits stained with Heidenhain's iron haematoxylin were counted according to the cells with and without extruded nuckoli. The cells with extruded nucleoli constitute about "21.8% of the total number of paranchymal cells and most of them belong to chromophobes and least to acido-philes. The extruded nucleoli were situated in various parts inside or outside the cells or even within sinusoids. The entrance of the extruded nucleoli into sinusoids suggests that the nucleolar extrusion may have some relation to the secreting activity of these cells.

We have studied its effeot on the volume ratio between nuoleolus and nucleus, as well as number of nucleolus per nucleus by the quantitative stereologic eleotronmioroscopio method. It has been demonstrated that HH at the dosage of 1.5 mg/kg could significantly stimulate the enlargement of nuoleolus volume by 2.8 times, and increased the number of nuoleolus by 1.7 times in comparison with the controls. It is suggested that such nucleolus stimulating action might be due to the inhibitory effect on ribosomal level of protein synthesis.It was also observed that HH at 1.5 mg/kg could induce a series of ultrastructural alteration in cardiac muscle cells of mice e. g. lysis of myofibrils, especially myosin, chromosome sparse distribution, pale of nuclear matrices, swelling of mitochondria and dilation of sarcoplasmio reticulum etc. When the dosage was increased to 3 mg/kg, obscurity and breakage of Z band, and damage of mitochondrial cristae were developed. For comparison, another cardiopathic antitumor agent Daunomycin was studied too, it could induce more serious ultrastructural abnormalities in cardiao muscle cells, such as vacuoles spreading everywhere in cardiac cytoplasm, breakage of mitochondria, appearance of 500~800 A filamentous struoture in capilaxies or interstitial of cells. Above-mentioned alterations induced by both drugs were similar to nonspecific deformations caused by cardiac anoxia.
