Abstract The paper discusses the different patterns and characteristics of soot generated in industrial oil furnaces, when burning light and heavy oils, and reports on a 10t/h furnace which, after retrofitting for solving its problem of excessive soot emmission, had it reduced by 80% so that the density of emitted smoke class Ⅰ environmental standards.
