In this paper a general flow diagramm of the HAR.SJ-300 feed processing combination was shown. In this paper a general flow diagramm of the HAR.SJ-300 feed processing combination was shown. The combination consisted of a hammer mill and a vertical screw type mixer, they could be installed in one unit or separately. Therefore the field of application could be expanded.The result of mathematical analysis pointed out that it is necessary to et a serrated plat in the top of the grinding chamber for breaking the material layer which moves near the screen and promoting partical size reduction.After a series of tests, it was proved that the efficiency of the hammer mill could be increased by 11.2%. Through airing the central part of the grinding chamber by an air-assisted system the efficiency of the hammer mill enhanced by 11.3%.After a series of tests of the vertical screw mixer the following conclusions were obtained:1. As the time goes on the variation coefficient CV of the mixed material was rapidly decreased, 4 seconds later, the value of CV becomes less than 10%.2. The mixer of the combination had been tested with different rotating speeds at 420rpm, 320rpm and 220rpm. The results showed that 320rpm was the more preferable speed.3. Wilcox (1981) recommended that a well-designed single screw vertical mixer should be run in a minimum time of 15 minuts after the last ingredient was added. But the results of our tests showed that if the structure parameters of the mixer was selected properly the quality of the mixing feed would get an optimum result in 6—8 minutes.
