SOME CLIMATIC CHARACTERISTICS OF THE RAINFALL OVER NORTHERN CHINA DURING SUMMER MONSOON PERIOD—AN APPLICATION OF SPECTRUM ANALYSIS AND EMPIRICAL ORTHOGONAL FUNCTION
(2) Significantly higher frequency of occurrence was noted in winds of SSW, NNW, NW, S, WNW, N and WSW in April, in winds of NW, NNW, W, WSW, WNW and SW in May, in winds of S, SSW, ESE and NNE in June and in winds of SSW, S and SW in July.
In this paper, the high-resolution QuikSCAT (QuikBird Satellite Microwave Scatterometer Sea Winds Data) Sea Winds data, NCEP (National Centers for Environmental Prediction) 10m-height Gaussian grid data and pressure level reanalysis data are used to analyze the characteristics of storm track in upper- and lower- troposphere over the North Pacific as well as its temporal variation.
Using mean zonal winds objectively analysed by NMC for 850 hPa (Dec. 1974-Feb. 1988) and 200 hPa (Mar. 1968-Feb. 1988), quasi-biennial and quasi-3-to-4-year oscillation are invenstigated.
It is also found that the eastward propagation of the high-level zonal winds around 35°N in East Asia is the result of eastward march of midlatitude low-frequency waves with 60°-90° longitude wavelength and speed of 1.5°-2.0° longitudes per day.
Mean annual wind speed is 4 m·s-1,the maximum wind speed occurs in January (6.1m·s-1),there are strong winds in the afternoon and weak winds in the morning.
This paper analyzed the operating principles and power and torque characteristics of the wind turbine and the direct current motor (DC motor), and investigated the operating characteristics of the wind turbine compared to that of the DC motor.
The results demonstrated that both cyclomatrix phosphazene polymers 4 and 6 were of excellent thermal stability, and their char yields in air at 800°C were 45.1 and 43.2%, respectively.
Iodine species in the gas phase in real air samples has been determined in two field campaigns at the west coast of Ireland, indicating that gaseous iodo-hydrocarbons and elemental iodine are the precursors of new particle formation.
A seaweed-chamber experiment was performed, indicating that gaseous I2 is one of the important precursors that lead to new particle formation in the presence of solar light in the ambient air at the coastal tidal area.
The distribution of Abies was deeply influenced by geological events such as the uplift of Himalaya, the Alps, the Rocky Mountains, the occurrence of the Asian Monsoon as well as the Quaternary glaciers.
East China lies in the subtropical monsoon climatic zone and is dominated by subtropical evergreen broad-leaved forests, a unique vegetation type mainly distributed in East Asia with the largest distribution in China.
The fluctuation of δ18O in precipitation during the monsoon season is very pronounced; the lower values are usually related to farther distance and multilayer moisture transport, as well as moisture crossing the Himalaya Mountains.
Polyciclic aromatic hydrocarbons were mainly redeposited by winds, derived together with palagonite from weathered hyaloclastites, and precipitated from atmosphere with tephra during eruptions.
The formation of extrazonal tundras on the islands is attributed to the cooling effect of the sea and the prevalence of cold northeasterly winds in the growing period.
All motions of the probe and orbiter, including the speed of probe descent, Jupiter's rotation, and the atmospheric winds, contributed to a Doppler shift of the probe radio frequency.
