The biological investigation of larch sawfly [Pristiphora erichonii (Hartig)] in planted pure larch stands of Dailing forest area of Xiao-xingan Mountains was made. The larch sawfly has one generation per year. It over winters as mature larva in a silky cocoon under litter. Mature larva pupates in early-mid May. Period of pupae is 14—15 days. Adults emerge, copulate and lay eggs in mid May to July. The larvae reaching full-grown go into litter and form silky cocoons in which they over-winters at the end of June...

Describes the life history of Pristiphora erichsonii ( Hartig ) in Qinling mountains. It breeds one generation a year ( 5 % every other year ) and begins to cocoon to overwinter in the litter layer in mid June.The larvae pupate in late April of the next year. The adults emerge in early may and the eggs hatch in late May. There are five instars in larva stage. Ratio of female to male is 19.7 : 1 .The outbreak in Qinling mountains is one month earlier than in Shanxi , and Liaoning.
