A computer code for calculating the temperature distribution for the instrumented fuel elements of PWR in pile experiments was compiled. The calculations of initial temperature distribution for the double deck cladding fuel element indicate that the upper safety limit of fuel linear power is 290 W/cm when the mass flow rate is 6 t/h.
The following design requirements should be fulfilled through the whole operation process of the transmutation reactor: the energy multiplication of the spallation source neutron M>400,the effective multiplication coefficient(k_(eff)<0.98),and the peak linear power density of fuel elements p_(l)<30 kW/m; meanwhile,the average burnup of the fuel for transmutation should reach about 20%.
