1. A survey of fasciolopsiasis of swine has been made at 6 districts and towns of Kwangtung, from May 1956 to June 1958. One thousand and fifty nine fecal specimens of swine have been examined. It has been found that the range of percentage of infection is 0.3—84.9, and the average percentage of infection is 43.5. 2. A study of the intensity of infection of the adult worms of Fasciolopsis buski has been made at the slaughter houses from May 1956 to April 1957. The alimentary tracts of 1,489 swine are examined...

1. A survey of fasciolopsiasis of swine has been made at 6 districts and towns of Kwangtung, from May 1956 to June 1958. One thousand and fifty nine fecal specimens of swine have been examined. It has been found that the range of percentage of infection is 0.3—84.9, and the average percentage of infection is 43.5. 2. A study of the intensity of infection of the adult worms of Fasciolopsis buski has been made at the slaughter houses from May 1956 to April 1957. The alimentary tracts of 1,489 swine are examined and 143 of them (9.6 percent) are found to be infected with Fasciolopsis buski. It has been found that the average intensity of infection is 19.64 warms per swine, the highest being 333 and the lowest being 1. During July, August and September, young worms are in large number, and during other months adult worms are in large number. 3. The fact that young pigs have a higher percentage of infection than the adult swine proves that immunity due to age may also be present in fasciolopsiasis of swine. 4. Three kinds of snails serve as the intermediate host of Fasciolopsis buski of swine in Kwangtung, namely, Segmentina calathus, Hippeutis cantori and Gyraulus convexiusculus. The habits and habitates of the snails have been studied. 5. A survey of the water plants carrying metacercariae of Fasciolopsis buski at 102 ponds shows that on average, each plant of the Pistia stratiotes carries 5.09 metacercariae, and every 500 gins. of Ipomoea aquatica carries 10.28 metacercariae; furthermore, this survey shows that 23.5% of Pistas stratiotes carries metacercariae of Fasciolopsis buski. Hence it may prove that Pistia stratiotes and Ipomoea aquatica are the more important carriers. 6. Among the eleven kinds of water plants, three of them, namely, Eichhornia crassipes, Salvinia natans and Vallisneria spiralis have been described as the carriers of Fasciolopsis buski by other authors (Wu, 1937; Wallace, 1936). The other eight kinds, namely, Pistia stratiotes, Ipomoea aquatica, Lemna polyrhiza, Lemna minor, Woffia arrhiza, Hydrilla verticillata, Azolla pinnata and Ceratophyllum demersum are reported for the first time as the carriers of Fasciolopsis buski of swine in the present paper.

Summary Virus isolated from bovine with epizootic fever in Beijing has been identified as probable rhabdovirus on the basis of morphological and physico—chemical propertis, 76AM strain of bovine epizootic fever virus has been propagated in baby mice and then adapted in BHK_(21) (c13) cell line. Tne following properties of the virus have been charaterized: virions are bullet shapcd, measuring 85nm in diameter and 170nm in length, containing RNA. This virion with an envelope of 11 nm thickness and studded with projection, is synthesized in the cytoplasm, assembled atcel lular membrane and released by budding. This virus is sensitive to lipidsol vents and trypsin, moderately heat sensitive and stable at low temperature. It can endure several treatments of repeated freezing and thawing, but without loss ot its infectivity to host cells. A comparision with human respiratory syncytical virus by virus neutralization test reveals no cross—reactions.
