Conditional probability of earthquake recurrence of fault zone is used as a spacial probability function of potential focal area to determine the annual mean occurrence rate of earthquake in potential focal region. Than, the section-dividing results of fault and the mean recurrence interval of earthquake with given magnitude are used to calculate the conditional probability of earthquake recurrence in coming 50 years.

The knowledge about the level of seismic activity in the coming 100 years in some seismic zones or regions is neccessary for the engineering earthquake work, so as to choose the statistic time-interval of historic earthquakes suitably, thus obtain the yearly average occurrence rate of earthquakes with various magnitudes in different potential focal regions suitable to the seismic activity level.

This paper computed the yearly average occurrence rate of moderately strong earthquakes, average recurrence interval, number of earthquakes ≥ a given magnitude and causative probability in Shanxi seismic zone in the coming 100 years by using the extreme value theory, maximum entropy principle, method of Malkov model. Molnar method and method of Bernouly model. The computed results show that there will occur 3 earthquakes M ≥ 6.0 and the causative probability is about 0.94;

The examination-of the X2 of the probability density function fm(m) of seismic magnitude M shows that it passes through X2 examination at horizontal 0.25. As an example, the yearly average occurrence rate and recurrence period of M≥5.5 earthquakes in Linfen basin were computed "and the internal examination indicates that the theoretical value is better consistent with the actually occurred number of earthquakes.

The influences on failure probability by resistance degradation function, average occurrence rate of loading and service time are analyzed qualitatively.

[Results] (1)The average year-incidene rate of PLC was 910. 89/100000 (46/5050) in the HBsAg positive group and its RR was 37. 85-fold of that in control group(24.24/100000,1/4126).

In this paper it has been found that there is a log-linear relationship between the response intensities and relevant occurrence frequencies at different engineering sites by analysing the occurrence frequency distribution of the response intensities of eight engineering sites in Langfang, Wanzhuang, Tongbai, Qianan, Xinzhuang, Leting and Wangtan of Hebei Province, and Jiangyen of Jiangsu Province. Based on this log-linear relationship, the average yearly rate of occurrence for various intensities at an engineering site can be estimated and then the intensities which might be met with during the coming 50 or 100 years can be forecasted. The forecasting results are quite similar to that of fundamental intensity zoning and seismic risk analysis. Therefore, so long as there are enough historical seismic data in the areas where engineering undertakings are projected, seismic risks of engineering sites can be evaluated by using the frequency distribution characteristics of response intensity.
