Still, 30% were leucocyte HBV DNA positiveout of the 93 patients with serum HBV DNA negative, which impliesthat 1/3 chronic-HBV-infected patients with serum HBV DNA negativewere leucocyte HBV DNA positive, By screening the 80 general populationwith RIA method, it was found that 3 of the 6 patients with HBsAgpositive were leucocyte HBV DNA positive, 4 cases with both HBsAg andHBeAg positive were leucocyte HBV DNA positive. Of the 24 cases withanti-HBs positive, only 1 was leucocyte HBV DNA positive. It should beespecially noted that out of the 34 samples with all the serological markersnegative, 2 were leucocyte HBV DNA positive. Sice HBV not only infects leucocyte but also interfere with the immunological functions of the white blood cells, it pernaps plays an important role in the formation of HBV chronic infection. So, its functions in the hepatitisrecovery, epidemiological importance and disease mechanism should be furtherstudied.
