On the basis of analysis of the compression test results on Takla Makan desert sand with different initial dry density, the normalization compression curve is introduced and compressibility modulus of the desert sand from this Normalization compression curve can be calculated and applied to the settlement computation of desert foundation.
It was indicated that the compression curve and the yield stress at the beginning of particle breakage achieved from numerical tests were both in good agreement with those of the laboratory tests on Toyoura sand.
Two kinds of analytical relationship between Uσ and Uε are derived on basis of compression curve of hyperbolic and semi-logarithmic type respectively, and thence a method to predict the coefficient of consolidation for the in-situ soil from the settlement observation is proposed.
Burland has introduced void index in the Thirtieth Rankine Lecture for normalizing the compression curves of various reconstituted soils, and proposed the intrinsic compression line for assessing the in-situ compressive behavior of natural sedimentary soils.
"Abnormal" phenomena of compressive curve and "inverse big" of coefficient if compressibility often occur when the compression test of satured soft soil is being done.
A series of compaction tests of various L/D ratio were carried out in this study, and the compression equation developed by Gurnham was applied to obtain the friction-free compressive curve of bentonite block.
By approximate compressive curve, mechanical properties and energy absorbing of foam metal are measured and estimated under condition of certain porosity.
The relative simulation of foam metal structure properties -mechanical properties and energy absorbing- is studied by FEA software. The key point is compressive curve, which has obvious three phases: (1) linear-elasticity deformation (2) plateau regime (3)desiflcation.
Based on the variation features of soil compressive curves and land subsidence curves, and in combination with a case study data on water level and land subsidence in east Suzhou City, the author stated that there existed a high intensity of pressure in the second confined water and a water and soil stress equilibrium plane under natural dynamic in SU-Xi-Chang region. It is concluded that a water pressure restraining extraction will not bring on land subsidence above the natural water and soil stress equilibrium.
The feedback calculation method for settlement is a method in which, the theoretically calculated settlement curves are being constantly fitted in with the measured settlement curves and, during the fitting process, the e-p compressive curves and the coefficient of consolidation are adjusted to make the theoretically calculated settlement closer to the measured settlement. The modified indices are then incorporated in the calculations and prediction of soil settlement.
Based on the geometrical characters of compressive curves of soil high pressure consolidation test, the authors advanced the compressibility parameter and compressive curves method in extrapolation pressure block in accordance with the consolidation test.
The lab test results show that the sustainable exploitation groundwater level can be determined by the deformation characteristics of the compressive curves.
To investigate the equation of state of α-MnS at high pressure and the possibility of a phase transition, the compression curve was measured at 298 K from 0 to 21 GPa using powder x-ray diffraction with a diamond anvil cell.
We obtain high-pressure densities directly from Brillouin data by conversion to isothermal conditions and iterative integration of the compression curve.
The high-pressure elasticity data in combination with room-pressure values from previous studies allowed us to determine an independent room-temperature compression curve of fluorite.
On reloading, kinematic yielding may not occur, but the inhomogeneous stresses in the cell may induce "clastic yielding" before re-joining the normal compression line.
This paper deals with the calculation of deformation of a soft clay slope concerning the excavation of the project Wencheng No.2 dock in Guangdong. For the computation model, assumptions are made by using hyperbolic and semi-logarithmic curves to represent the shear and compression curves respectively, the softening effect of the decrease of normal stress on shear moduli due toexcavation is taken into consideration. The ground seepage force is involvedin the calculation with respect to both cases of excavatio...
The object of this study is the open-end, hydraulically-autofretted, thickwalled cylinders(Ni-Cr steels). The simplest solution which considers strainhardening of material is used to calculate the stress distribution of the cylinders and internal pressure-external strain relations during loading. The Bauschinger effect curve in the uniaxial tension-compression test of the material is approached by linear-hardening. The equivalent strain in the cylinder plastic region is replaced by the circumferential strai...
A method to calculate the equation of state by using Morse potential has been studied. The cold pressure is computed from Morse potential. The thermal pressure is computed according to Debye approximation, while the Debye temperature is computed from the elastic properties. The Gruneisen parameter is computed from the parameters of Morse potential. Equations of state of several cubic metals are evaluated by this method. The computing program written in basic FORTRAN language is presented. The calculated res...
