This paper summarizes the importance of establishing and sharing the spatial database of geological relics/land- scapes,analyzes and compares the advantages and disadvantages of the dynamic and active WebGIS sys- tems,introduces the construction of the architecture and software/hardware environment for the special geo- logical landscape information system,and elaborates the procedure of realizing Chinese WebGIS information issuance system of special geological landscape through ArcGIS platform.
A systematic investigation of the geological relics for the whole province was conducted for the first time,and 97 sites of geological relics are singled out representatively and divided into 16 types.

A model for the conservation of geological remains as documents
Geological remains are conserved mainly either together with living beings for the sake of the integrity of nature or for their economical or aesthetic value.
For this reason we propose a model which is an application of marginal utility theory in economics and takes into account the informational utility of geological remains.
Informational utility of geological remains ranges over their geological significance which is induced by the importance of the geological processes that produce them, and over their spatial extensiveness.
The history of the study and conservation of geological remains can be traced back to ancient times.
