The branches of the cranial cervical ganglion included the internal carotid nerve, external carotid nerve, jugular nerve and the branches connecting with the glossopharyngeal, vagus, hypoglossal and first cervical nerves.

The vagus nerve is composed of two strands, the internal strand and a small part of the external strand pass through the jugular ganglion and the ganglion nodosum. The vagus nerve originated from the lateral aspect of the medulla together with the accessory nerve and the glossopharyngeal nerve emerges from the cranium through the foramen lacerum. In the cervical part, the vagus gives off the pharyngeal branch,the anterior laryngeal nerve and cardiac branches. Entering the thorax, the vagus divides into the recurrent nerve ( or the posterior laryngeal nerve ) , and gives branches to the oesophagus, the trachea and lymph glands. Then right and left vagus nerves form the dorsal and ventral oesophageal trunks and enter the abdominal cavity through the oesophageal hiatus. The dorsal trunk divides into gastric and intestinal branches.Most of fibers of the intestinal branch do not enter the celiac ganglion and the anterior mesenteric ganglion , but run directly along the anterior mesenteric artery, and distribute to the intestine. The gastric branch forming the plexus distributes to the visceral surface of the stomach.The ventral trunk forms plexuses, and distri bute to the end of the oesophagus, the diaphragmatic surface of the stomach, the liver, the pancreas and the beginning part of the duodenum.

用类霍乱原结合辣根过氧化物酶(CB-HRP)研究了鸡的副神经.(1)用 CB-HRP 浸泡迷走神经皮支断端或将其注入颈外侧皮肌前部,被标记的运动神经元胞体位于脊髓颈1~2节灰质中间带,形成长的细胞柱,与迷走神经中间核排成一列,其后端在颈2节后部位于中央管腹外侧的腹角基部外侧区,前端在颈1节前部与位于中央管背外侧的迷走神经中间核后部相连.笔者认为此细胞柱应为鸡的副神经核.标记的感觉神经元胞体位于颈静脉神经节.(2)将辣根过氧化物酶(HRP)注入复肌后,标记的运动神经元胞体出现于脊上核背内侧部,未见于副神经核内.
