研究了芥菜(Brassica juncea Coss.)的根茎膨大、结球、植株基部分枝、叶色和裂叶等主要经济性状的遗传。芥菜的根、茎膨大分别均表现为数量遗传的性状,根、茎膨大均表现显性,不膨大为隐性。它们的遗传均符合“加性显性”效应模型,遗传力均不高(根重的H_B~2=33.26%, H_N~2=17.64%;茎重的H_B~2=58%, H_N~2=20%)。根重的显性方差占遗传方差的百分数约低于加性方差所占的百分数,茎重的显性方差则约高于加性力差。控制这2个性状的有效基因至少各有2对。结球、红叶、无裂叶均表现显性。不结球、绿色叶和深裂叶为隐性,均分别为1对基因控制的质量性状。植株基部分枝性为1对主效核基因控制,同时也受胞质基因的修饰,基部有分枝表现为显性性状。
