In order to make design education meet the needs of the society and seek design education system with Chinese characteristics, the Education Department of the Culture Ministry held a conference in Guangzhou on Chinese design education at the turn of the century. Du Changshen, Vice-director of the Education Department of the Culture Ministry .made a speech at the opening ceremony. Yi Dingbang, president of Guangzou Academy of Fine Arts delivered a speech on Eight-point Comments on Design Education.
