Mingdai shihua (notes on Ming poetry) was developed on the basis of classical poetry studies of previous dynasties. It had a positive influence over the development of the Ming poetry as well as the formation of the classical poetry studies of the following Qing Dynasty. Mingdai shihua (notes on Ming poetry) was developed on the basis of classical poetry studies of previous dynasties. It had a positive influence over the development of the Ming poetry as well as the formation of the classical poetry studies of the following Qing Dynasty. Mingdai shihua, which was in the development stage of Zhongguo shihua (notes on classical Chinese poetry), has maintained an important position in the history of Zhongguo Shihua. The development of Mingdai shihua could be divided into three stages: the early stage, the middle stage and the late stage. In the early stage, Mingdai shihua focused on the "talk" of the shihua. The middle stage saw the advocacy of the doctrine of "back to the ancient style". In the late stage, however, it became the studies in which the said doctrine was criticized and entirely rejected, while individual style and freedom were encouraged. Consequently, based on the poetry studies of the previous Song and Yuan Dynasties, Ming scholars turned the comprehensive studies of Songdai shihua (notes on Song poetry) into the special studies. Furthermore, they developed the systematic poetics by carrying forward and enhancing the poetry composing methods and theory of the Yuan. The historical characteristics of Mingdai shihua find expression in such aspects as the reflection of Ming features, clear purpose, theoretical approach, systematic approach and specialized studies.

明代诗话是在前代诗话的基础上发展起来的,它对明诗的发展及清代诗话的形成起过积极的作用。明代诗话是中国诗话的发展期,在中国诗话史上占有重要的地位。明代诗话的发展可分为初期、中期和后期三个阶段:初期诗话以讲诗法为主;中期诗话主要是宣扬复古主义;后期诗话已成为专门之学,其中心议题是彻底批判复古思潮,宣扬个性解放。明人在宋、元诗话的基础上,把宋诗话的综合之学发展成为专门之学;他们还发扬元诗话偏重诗法的优点,把它充实提高,使之成为系统的诗学理论,创造了具有鲜明特色的明诗话。明代诗话的时代特色主要表现在时代性、针对性、理论化、系统化及专门化五个方面。

The emotion category is concerned by Chinese literature criticism. There are two kinds of emotion theories in the Ming dynasty' s poetics. They not only enrich Ming dynasty' literature criticism but also the base of the e-motion theory of Qing dynasty.

“情”是备受中国文学批评关注的一个范畴,明代诗话中两种代表性的“情”说,以其不同的审美趣味丰富了明代诗学批评的殿堂,同时为清代“情”说集大成奠定了坚实基础。
