This paper investigates the effects of the voltage (Vp-VB) on the nonuniformity of the dark current in the charge-coupled linear imaging devices and presents a method for suppressing the fixed pattern noise due to the dark current, that is, voltage (Vp-VB) should be reduced as far as possible where the capacity of the potential well is large enough. A method of measuring the minority carrier's life by measuring the output of the dark current is presented and experimental results obtained are given.
