Study on inclusion complexes of hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin with tanshinone IIA
      
The inclusion complex formation of tanshinone IIA (Tan IIA) with hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin (HPCD) was studied by using phase solubility method, and the formation constant for tanshinone IIA-HPCD-dextrin was determined.
      
Methyl-β-cyclodextrin and some osmolytes, such as glycerol, sucrose, proline, glycine, and heparin, could effectively prevent the aggregation, implying an artificial chaperone role of those substances during fatty acid synthase unfolding.
      
When β-cyclodextrin is added, these associates decompose owing to the formation of the strong inclusion complexes of the guest-host type with amphiphilic ions of a cationic surfactant or Brij 35 molecules.
      
It is shown that, in the presence of various surfactants, as β-cyclodextrin concentration increases, first the molecules of nonionic surfactant and then amphiphilic cations bind with the receptor cavity.

The microenvironmental effects of cyclodextrins on photodimerization

The effect of β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) on various types of color reactions, such as PAR, PAN. 5-Br-DEPAP and 3.5-diBr-PADAP with Zn~(2+), Cd~(2+), Hg~(2+), 5-Cl-PADAB and 3,5-diBr-PADAT with Co~(2+), Ni~(2+), and Cu~(2+), DPC, PF and p-NO_2-PF with Cr(Ⅵ).
