1 Analysis of genetic polymorphism in seven policedog breeds by AFLPsA total of 221 pitches were used in seven breeds, including German shepherd dog (n=4), Rottweiler (n=31), Labrador Retriever (n=30), English Spring (n=21), Belgian Malinois (n=45), Kunming dog (n=35) and Doberman pinscher (n=19).
2 The relationship between AFLP markers and body measurements as well as reproduction in German shepherd dogBlood DNA samples from 26 pitches in German shepherd dog were amplified and 23 variable markers were obtained by an AFLP method with 7 selected primers.
The study of the polymorphisms of the 10 microsatellite DNA loci of the 118 unrelated police dogs which have no relationship, including 85 German Shepherd dogs, which are all from Hubei, shows that the three microsatellite DNA loci PEZ6, PEZ8, FHC2054, which all have over 8 allelic and their DP approach or surpass 0.9, heterozygosity approach or surpass 0.7, are fit for the dog's paternity identification and individual discrimination efficiently.

Results showed that body temperature of purebred German Shepherd Dogs was significantly higher than those of indigenous wolfhound of China and F_1 crossbreds (P<0.05);
A rare case of provoked anal penetration of an 11-year-old boy by a male German shepherd dog was confirmed by the results of morphological, serological and molecular genetic investigations.
We report a German shepherd (i.e., dog 1) and a poodle (i.e., dog 2) that were referred to our cardiology unit after receiving pimobendan for 10 and 5 mo, respectively.
Necrotizing arteritis and periarteritis were found in Beagle and German Shepherd dogs treated for 13 or 52 weeks with the novel benzodiazepine receptor (BZR) partial agonist Ro 16-6028 (generic name bretazenil).
An extensive epidemiologic survey was carried out from 1970 to 1974 in order to understand the condition of circulation of tick-borne encephalitis virus between ticks and small mammals in the Alsatian focus, France.
Changes in body temperature, respiratory rate, feed intake, water consumption, physiological indexes of blood and behavior ect. in hot seasons were observed on German Shepherd Dog (5 original breed and 5 pure bred dogs), indigenous wolfhound of China (2), F_1 crossbreds (5) and grade dogs (4) in this trial. Results showed that body temperature of purebred German Shepherd Dogs was significantly higher than those of indigenous wolfhound of China and F_1 crossbreds (P<0.05); High air temperature had larger eff...
1. German Shepherd Dogs have wildly been used as working dogs by Ministry of Public Security in China, or guard dogs by Farm and Storehouse in these years.2. Observation on the changes of the maternal behaviors of three female German Shepherd Dogs during their infants development period of 12 weeks after birth was conducted.3. The maternal behaviors involve lactation, grooming, licking, providing warmth,playfighting, object-play, digging play, scent marking and rejection. The content quantity and quality of...
Two alpha IFN genes were isolated from Labrader Retriever and German Shepherd dog by PCR using primers based on highly conserved amino acid sequence blocks of dog's alpha IFN genes. The cloned IFN genes between Labrader Retriever and German Shepherd dog are similarities,and are 513 nucleotides long and deduced 170 amino acid. This data would suggest the alpha IFNs of dog be highly conserved,and the amino acid sequences have 99 3%~100% homology with those of dog's alpha IFN genes.
