Two alpha IFN genes were isolated from Labrader Retriever and German Shepherd dog by PCR using primers based on highly conserved amino acid sequence blocks of dog's alpha IFN genes. The cloned IFN genes between Labrader Retriever and German Shepherd dog are similarities,and are 513 nucleotides long and deduced 170 amino acid. This data would suggest the alpha IFNs of dog be highly conserved,and the amino acid sequences have 99 3%～100% homology with those of dog's alpha IFN genes.
