To deal with the problem of real time collision detection in complex virtual manufacturing environment which is composed of machines, robots and other hundreds upon hundreds devices, a hierarchical close fixed collision box arithmetic is put forward based on data structure. The arithmetic solves the collision detection problem with multiple convex polyhedrons, multiple moving objects and complex obstacles, reporting automatically the exact and forthcoming geometry contact, detecting the nearest Euclid distance between two moving objects which is extremely useful in calculating penalty functions in motion planning. The arithmetic is robust and can converge rapidly.
