This paper describes the Up-to-date development in theories and experiments in the research of magnetic multilayers(MLs). As a new kind of material, magnetic MLs exhibit some unique physical properties such as dimensional magnetism, interface (surface) magnetism, interface anisotropy, interlayer magnetic coupling, giant magnetoresistance and macroscopic quantum tunneling of magnetization etc. Therefore,magnetic multilayers have been an improtant topic in theoritical and experimental physics.
