Usually, during the period with strong north wind after passing of a cold front, the clear period will exist in Beijing. On the other hand, if the following typical conditions, a slow moving anticyclone at the upper atmosphere, continuous inversion below 300 m and wind field near the surface unfavorable for horizontal transfer, exist simultaneously, then there will be the period of heavy pollution in Beijing.
