The main research results are High Accuracy, High Rigidity and High Velocity Air Pneumatic Bearing Technology, High Accuracy, High Rigidity Closing Hydrostatic Guide Way Technology, Ultra-precision Turning System, Ultra-precision Grinding System, and other relative technologies such as the Basic Integration Technology for High Performance Opening CNC System.
Based on the ultra precise turning experiments, the influences of feeds and back cutting depth on the cutting force in micro thin cutting are analyzed. It is pointed out that the machined surface roughness will be affected by the special change of cutting resisting force Ft, the feeds of cutter should be selected in a rational range to ensure the ultra precise surface quality.
There are some ultra precise turning machines, which can produce parts at micro level accuracy.
In this paper, approximate surface finish calculation equations for ultra-precision turning are derived, hence a surface finish nomograph is constructed. By means of this nomograph, surface finish values of ultra-precision turning can be found conveniently without any complicated calculation.
Some machining processes such as supaprecision turning, boring, grinding, computer numerical control and non-traditional machining processes being applied inside and outside of China are presented. And the applications of these processes in precision/superprecision machining of inertia instrument parts are discussed in the paper.
