The study shows that, under the nonlinear condition, i.e. the vor-ticity of basic zonal flow linearly or nonlinearly varies with latitude, the motion will bifurcate and there exist instable equilibrium states in the inertial stable region and stalble equilibrium states in the inertial instable region, which differ from such case under the linear condition that the motion belongs to steady state while the inertial stability condition is met, otherwise to unsteady state. In inertial instable region, if the vorticity of basic zonal flow nonlinearly increases with the latitude (i.e., 3-u/y3 < 0), the motion should generate a cup-shaped catastrophe when the geostrophic departure at initial location enhances to some critical intensity.

本文对大气大尺度水平(惯性)运动的稳定性进行了简单的理论分析,着重讨论非线性的影响.结果表明:与线性情况下满足惯性稳定度条件的运动为稳定态否则为不稳定态不同,在非线性条件下,即基本纬向气流的涡度随纬度有变化时(线性或非线性变化),运动会出现分岔现象,在惯性稳定区还会产生不稳定的平衡态,在惯性不稳定区还会出现稳定的平衡态.在运动的惯性不稳定区,如果基本气流的涡度随纬度非线性增加,则当初始位置的地转偏差达到某一强度时,运动可发生一种月尖形突变.
