METHODS: Antineurofilament immunohistochemical method was used to visualize the regenerated axons at the attached site after the sensory nerve segment wasanastomosised to the normal great auricular nerve by end-toside model in rabbits. RESULTS: The regenerated axonswere found having passed through the attached region in all specimens....

AIM: The purpose of present study is to evaluatethe axon regeneration at the attached site in order to explorethe possibility of application of sensory nerve end-to-sideanastomosis. METHODS: Antineurofilament immunohistochemical method was used to visualize the regenerated axons at the attached site after the sensory nerve segment wasanastomosised to the normal great auricular nerve by end-toside model in rabbits. RESULTS: The regenerated axonswere found having passed through the attached region in all specimens. The number of regenerated axons in each animal was related to the quality of the anastomosis. The axons camefrom the normal great auricular nerve, grew into the attached degenerated nerve segment, and replaced the degeneratednerve fibers. CONCLUSION: These results suggest that sensory nerve a-cons can regenerate following the end-to-sideanastomosis.

In the fourth week the receptor nerve acquired reinnervation.CGRP of receptor never positive cells remained weakly positine. Conclusion CGRP positive fibers were able to arcoss the nerve gap to enter receptor nerve,regeneration of fibers was step by step.
