The process using plasma arc 3-dimensional weld directly making metal part is a novel manufacturing method. To control the process, a CCD visual monitoring system was used. To avoid the interference of plasma arc, the spectrum of plasma arc was measured and analyzed, and a narrow band filter system was designed. The weld pool images were binarized, and a fuzzy-PID controller was used to control weld pool. Experimentation proves using this system can improve manufacturing accuracy.
