Complex ray theory, based on geometrical optics, has been found to have many applications in areas of laser, microwave, acoustics, seismology etc. Since the time-consuming wavefield integration is avoided here, complex ray method furnishes a simple and useful approach to analyze and evaluate the propagation and scattering of collimated waves under various complicated environments and boundary conditions. In this paper, the fundamental principle and main approaches are systematically summarized, including traditional ray-optical technique, complex ray tracing, paraxial approximation and complex Huygens wavelet expansion. Finally, some examples and numerical results are presented.

Profile reconstructions of stratified medium are basic electromagnetic inverse problens.They are of great significance for reconstruction of complex medium. In this paper,the current situation of research on these problems is summaried,in which some of our works are included.

A new method for pattern simulation by Gaussian beams is proposed and studied systematically.Lobe matching technique (LMT ),which proves efficiency by a lot of numerical results,can be ed not only tosolve high frequency electromagnetic problems under complex environment combined with complex ray method(CRM),but also to act as a fine method for pattern synthesis. Gabor representation is also introduced and used inthe pattern synthesis for the first time.

提出并系统研究了一种利用高斯波束进行天线方向图模拟的新方法。大量数值结果表明了波瓣匹配法(LMT)的有效性。该法不但能与复射线法(CRM)结合用于解决复杂媒质环境下的高频电磁场问题,而且也是一种优良的方向图综合算法。文中还首次将基于盖博表达式的高斯波束展开用于方向图综合。
