The propagation properties of dark solitons in birefringent fibers are studied on birefringence, the width of finite-width background and pulse width. It is found that polarized dark solitons are less robust to birefringence than that of bright solitons. The more is the width of background, the more is the contract ratio between dark solitons and background . The propagation properties of dark solitons in birefringent fibers are studied on birefringence, the width of finite-width background and pulse width. The more is the width of background, the more is the contract ratio between dark solitons and background . Dark solitons with larger finite-width background can main the shape of black solitons in the transmission. When dark solitons become wider, the differential group delay becomes larger and the induced gray-solitons-oscillation construction becomes more obvious. It is not beneficial to the propagation of dark solitons in long transmission.
