GS=0.15 in atmosphere. The existence of oxygen may reduce the radiation stability of PPS, With increasing absorbed dose the heat stability somewhat rises, but the crys ta'ilinity 甪alls slightly. Alithough will be crossliflked and degraded simutaneously under the action of radiation its Gx and Gs however are very small. It is concluded that PPS is a radiation-resistance and heat-resistance polymeric material.

Based upon the recent measurement methods of gel reflux extraction, an improved and simplified method was achieved. The gel fraction of high pressure low density polyethene after irradia- tion was measured experimentally.The improved apparatus of gel reflux extraction is simpler than the Soxhlet extractor.The use of nitrogen gas was omitted.The reflux period is shortened and the results are reliable.The method is effective and useful.

A veriety of property modification can be imparted to silk through grafting without destroying its st(?)ucture. Various methods have been used for grafting vinyl monomers onto silk. The most important ones are:1. The metal ion and metal-redox systems include a. tetravalent ce(?)ic ion, b. quinquivalent vanadium and vanadium (V)-thiourea redox system, c. hexavalent chromium, d. potassium permanaganate and permanaganate-oxilic acid redox system, e. ferric-thiourea and ferric-cystine redox system.2. The non-metal ion and non-metal ion-redox systems include a. hydrogen peroxide, sodium thiosulfate redox system, b. peroxydisulfate, c. peroxydiphosphate, peroxydiphosphate-thiourea and peroxydiphosphate-2-amino ethane thiol redox system, d. bromate-thiourea redox system.3. Other methods include a. vapor-phase initiation, b. radiation and c. photoiniation. All graft systems have been reviewed in this paper.
