The theoretical calculation formula for the plane strain fracture toughness of mode Ⅰ and Ⅱ cracksof ceramic materials is deduced in this paper by using the nonlocal elasticity theory and maximum tensile stress criterion. The theoretical calculation formula for the plane strain fracture toughness of mode Ⅰ and Ⅱ cracksof ceramic materials is deduced in this paper by using the nonlocal elasticity theory and maximum tensile stress criterion. The deduced formula,which is independent of crack geometry,bears a relation to material parameters. It isshown through experiment that the theoretical value of fracture toughness is the lower limit of testing value. Thetheoretical calculation formula for fracture toughness relates the macromechanical performance of materials withthe microstructural parameters and,therefore,is beneficial to fully understanding the physical mechanism of materials rupture.

利用非局部弹性理论和最大拉应力准则,推导了陶瓷材料Ⅰ、Ⅱ型裂纹平面应变断裂韧度的理论计算公式。公式与裂纹几何无关,仅与材料参数有关。通过实验得出,断裂动度的理论值是测试值的下限。断裂韧度的理论计算公式将材料的宏观力学性能与微观结构参数联系起来,对全面理解材料断裂的物理机理是有益的。

Criteria for crack propagation of ceramic materials are deduced from nonlocal elasticity theory in this paper. The theoretical deduction shows that the critical stress of crack propagation and critical crack length deduced from nonlocal theory are much greater than those deduced from LEFM. The results of crack propagaiton tests made on HP-Si 3N 4 at room temperature coincide well with the theoretical deduction.

本文根据非局部弹性理论推导了陶瓷材料的裂纹扩展准则。理论推导表明用非局部理论推导的裂纹扩展临界应力与临界裂纹长度都要比用线弹性断裂理论(LEFM)推导出来的大得多。用热压氮化硅(HP-Si3N4)陶瓷材料在室温下做裂纹扩展实验,实验结果与理论推导吻合得较好。
