For wastewater with high BOD/NH3-N content the activated sludge process will be suitable otherwise the attached biofilm process better. Also some measures and problems meriting consideration in designing, starting and operating a nitrification reactor are proposed.

This method invested about 400 000Y on constrution and epuipment. The operation cost was 6. 19 Y per ton wastewater, It reached removal rate of 95% for methylbenzene, 90% for 2, 6-nitro-cresol. All other phenol material are almost completedly removaled. The abstracting agent can be reused by reverse abstraction.
