本文着重介绍了北美和加拿大从本世纪初以来苜蓿育种工作的概况,选育目标和主要方法以及所取得的经验与成就;扼要地叙述有关苜蓿细胞和遗传学方面在各个阶段研究进展的代表性的苜蓿品种。这篇简要介绍对我国从事苜蓿育种工作者可作为借鉴之用。

Alfalfa isan excellent feedssuff for all animals.At present, it is necessary for production to improve its productivity. In this paper,155 cultivars of alfalfa from home and abroad were observed and grouped according to their external morphological characters.From the results obtained,reference data have been putforward for cultivar selection,which may be used in alfalfa breeding as a criterion.

Breeding new variety of high resistivity alfalfa is one of the ways to solve the problem of lacking protein forage in north china. There are many local var(?)es of alfalfa in china, but their names are confusable, their quality inferior, and lacking new varieties of high resistivity. According to the demands and natural conditions of economic development area of national agricultural and animal husbandry, adopting new breeding ways, techniques and many courses jointly tackling key problems, speeding up alfalfa breeding process, we should breed synthetical new varieties with resistance to cold, drought, disease, grazing and saline-alkali. Suggest that alfalfa breeding should be placed on the eighth five years plan" of national science and technology tackling projects, in order to strenghen the study of breeding material, methods and basic theory.

解决我国北方蛋白质饲料缺乏的途径之一,是培养高蛋白高抗性的苜蓿新品种。目前我国苜蓿地方品种繁多,但名称混乱,质量差,缺乏高抗性新品种。应根据全国农牧业开发区的需要和自然条件,以抗寒耐旱、抗病虫、耐盐碱、耐牧、品质优良为育种目标,采用新的育种路线和技术,多学科联合攻关,加速苜蓿育种进程,以育成综合品种。建议把苜蓿育种列为“八五”国家科技攻关项目,以便加强对育种材料、方法和基础理论的研究。
