Exploiting feed resources, and planting grasses and forage crops which substitute some cereal—grains feed are keys of those ways above. Grasses and forage crops utilize natural resources more effectively than cereal crops, and have complete nutrients to supply feed for grasseating animals. In farming areas, the grasses and forage crops can be planted mainly in unproductive fields, and some fields which are used to produce cereal—grains feed. It is feasible and necessary to plant grasses and forage crops in farming areas. The successful results from Fumazhang, Zhejiang, a research site in hilly areas located between farming and animal husbandry, and the experience in planting grasses to supply some feed for fresh—water fish in Jiangsu provided strong evidence on developing the cerealsaving animal husbandry in farming areas.
