The method proves powerful in noise immunity and efficient in computation. Compared to the trace integral method, it is capable of well-delineating geological structures (e. g. faults and unconformity interfaces), and is thereforc an idcal method for transforming interace information into stratigraphic information.

Well logging is a comprehensive technique in combination with multiple disciplines,providing scientific basis for the exploration and development personnel to master stratigraphic properties and understand oil and gas reseroir performance.The basic way for this object is to acquire a wealth of stratigraphic informations with high quality,then to analyze,research and apply them.Some desired results,such as guiding exploration well deployment to discover oil and gas reservoirs,successfully guiding the directional sidetracking in the high steep structures by use of hole side structural configuration analysis,determining reservoir intervals for zonal production,guiding lateral reservoir predication and monitoring oil and gas reservoir performance,etc.,have been achieved and a set of efficient methods have been summarized by the Logging Company of SPA by use of log data.Through successively applying the methods to the research on the Feixianguan gas reservoir in well Du 1,the bioherm gas reservoir in well Yunan 12,and the Carboniferous gas reservoirs in well Tiandong 14,well Wenquan 1-1 and well Liangdong 1-1 respectively,it is proved that these methods are efficient.
