The morphology and formation of defects in fluorophlogopite crystals grown by movingcrucible method with seed crystal are described from the standing point of crystal growth.Experimental observations are taken by polarized microscope, Twyman interferometer andlarge area Lang'S X-ray topography.It is revealed that there exist holes of silk-form,hexago-nal koles, inclusions, growth striations, twinning boundaries, crystal basal face corrugationsand other defects in fluorophlogopite crystals. These defects originate mainly from thed efectsof seed crystal and propagate in the crystal due to change of temperature field and unpropertechnical operations. In order to grow perfect crystal, it is necessary to choose perfect seeds,maintain a stable temperature field and proceed the growth process properly.In the end, apreliminary discussion is attempted in regard with the relations between defects and pro-perties of fluorophlogopite crystals, such as cleavage, mechanical, electronic and opticalproperties.

Beside this factor, we must take into account the extinction ratio(defined as the ratio of the maximum to the minimum transmitted light intensity). The size of the extinction ratio depends not only on the optical homogeneity of the crystal, but also on the radius of the laser beam. Therefore, we often used the fluctuation of the nature birefringence to show the optical inhomogeneity of the crystal. In...

Beside this factor, we must take into account the extinction ratio(defined as the ratio of the maximum to the minimum transmitted light intensity). The size of the extinction ratio depends not only on the optical homogeneity of the crystal, but also on the radius of the laser beam. Therefore, we often used the fluctuation of the nature birefringence to show the optical inhomogeneity of the crystal. In this paper, an automatic scaning measurement method which has more advantages than the extinction angle method was described. The equipment also was used to investigate dynamic and static extinction ratio, influences of electric domains on the optical homogeneity and electrooptic effect in LNbo_3 crystals. and to obtain the signal of the phase transition of LiNbo_3 crystal near 75℃. Finally, we discussed the measured results.

调制晶体的性能好坏,通常是由半波电压和消光比这二个量来表征的。而消光比往往与晶体的光学均匀性有关。本文介绍了一种可用于测量晶体的双折射率梯度、消光比、半波电压以及双折射率随温度变化的自动扫描装置及工作原理。该方法和其他方法相比具有测量速度快,重复性好,及误差小等优点,并可以从扫描曲线上直接定性地判别晶体的光学性能的好坏,文章最后还做了双折射率梯度及消光比的测量,并对实验结果进行了讨论。
