The profilometer is used to measure track profile at speed, particularly at high speed.Both laboratory and field tests were conducted to evaluate the performance of the profilometer system. Comparisons are made between the profilometer measurements at speed and the level instrument measurements under the wheel loading of the track test car in the same section, and between the successive measurements of profilometer at fast passenger train speed in the same trunk line section. The results are satisfactory. At 160km/hr. test run, data are also normally recorded.
