Inhibitor 8108, which is mainly comprised of nitrate has been investigated by potentiodynamic polarization, static immersion and humidity test. Trial examination has been also conducted. The results showed that the inhibition effectiveness of 8108 is not inferior to that ot 0.3% K_2Cr_2O_7 solution and it may be used instead of chromate for aluminium alloy in near-neutral solution. An approach has been made in terms of inhibition mechanism and 8108 is considered as an inhibitor of anodic passivation type.

The influence of silicon contents on the corrosion behaviors of stainless steel in highly concentrated sulfuric acid was investigated by the methods of weight loss,potentiodynamic anodic polarization,X ray diffraction(XRD),SEM,EPMA and Auger electron spectroscopy(AES).The results indicated that adding high silicon content into stainless steel improved the corrosion resistance significantly in highly concentrated sulfuric acid because of the accelerated passivating process and the formation of SiO 2 in outer layer and Cr 2O 3 in inner layer.
