At the same time, the form of deformation zone, the elongation along the width offoil, texture and stress etc.have been measured. It is pointed out that the orange peel-like ripplesare caused by inhomogeneous stress spread all over the whole foil surface during deformation. The-se inhomogeneous stresses originate mainly from the roll with rough surface and anisotropic de-formation of grains in foil. Owing to the small ability of the ultra thin foil to resist the bendingstress, the orange peel-like ripples thus easily appear on the surface of foil even under very littlestress. Experiments show that by adopting rational technology, it is possible to eliminate the or-ange peel-like ripples and obtain even ultra thin foil.

This paper describes the optimal design for the rocker mechanism of multi-strand and multi-roller cold tube-rolling mill with balancing method of double-noses. A mathematic model of the optimization to take aim at the optimum dynamic balance has been built. The results of the calculation show that the crest of the combined inertial torque of the double-nose crankshaft is 80% less than that of the single-nose one and hence the balancing effect can be markedly improved.

The technique of asynchronous rolling can decrease the rolling load and break the limitation of the minimum thickness being rolled on an ordinary rolling mill.
