From the central part of carcinoma or most seriously ill part and from the neighboring part of the ill part of each stomach specimen several blocks of the stomach wall were taken for examination, with modified Cajal-Faivorsky's block silver impragnation method treated, to observe the histological chances of the nerve tissue, especially of the axis-cylinder....

    42 cases of surgical resected stomach specimens, including gastric carcinoma 30, chronic gastric ulcer 5 , atrophic gastritis 5 and normal stomach 2, were collected. From the central part of carcinoma or most seriously ill part and from the neighboring part of the ill part of each stomach specimen several blocks of the stomach wall were taken for examination, with modified Cajal-Faivorsky's block silver impragnation method treated, to observe the histological chances of the nerve tissue, especially of the axis-cylinder. 1 . In 17 cases of the 30 gastric carcinoma, the axis-cylinder in the central part of the cancer were completely disappeased. In the neighb hood of the carcinoma some degenerated axis-cylinder could be found. In the other 13 cases, some axis-cylicder remnants could be found in central part of the cancer. In 4 cases of this group few like normal axiscylinders appeared in the stroraa or between the cancer cells, maybe regeneration. In all these cases, the nerve tissue were damaged more serious in the central part of the cancer than the outer part. 2 . In case of the chronic gastric ulcer and atrophic gastritis, the nerve tissue in the seriously ill parts was also seriously damaged, outside of the ill pasts the nerve tissue remained more intact. So it is possible, that the carcinomatous change of some gastric ulcer cases or some atrophic gastritis cases has any relationship with the damage of the stomach nerves.
