On the basis of sewage interception,the river water quality is improved with water recharge and purification to achieve the specified Water Standard Level Ⅴ.

Using the micronucleus technique in the root tip cells of broad bean, the author tests and analyses the water quality of the five rivers in Suzhou proper. The results show that the mutagencity exists in the water of all rivers tested. It is indicated that the five rivers are polluted to varying degrees.
